LAZERWOLFS - Get Mad

"Man, listen to those big guitars!" Might be something you'd yelp from down the block as those stubborn garage dwelling rockers practice without your permission. True enough, the LAZERWOLFS manage a sound as roaring as any indie can afford, but with the approachable lead vocals and lyrical thematics to make them your buds down the street. Tracks like "Bonfire" and "Dissent" are the pinnacles of restlessness, with the mighty hammer of the hammered power chord crashing down right between your mortal ears (they are that high in the mix, headphone wearers beware!). The songs are mostly brisk but not breakneck and the structures familiar but with a few odd licks, beats etc, tossed in for conversation. The songs are all pretty much rock solid, buoyant fist pumping tailgate fare with only a few passages that lumber. Nothing quite rises to the level of euphoria but the attitude, earnestness and raw power are delights among themselves. Names to throw about would be occasional early Metallica, a slight stoner rock boom and a barroom clearing cult favorite in Motorpsycho (remember them?). The band wisely packs the punch tight, for there are 7 tracks for your listening pleasure and not 14 for your listening boredom. Quality over quantity. Remember them days? They do.
