On August 25th and 26th, 2001, the Lazerwolfs returned to Bevel Studio to record a new 6 song EP/Demo. We weren't entirely sure what we wanted to do with this project, we only knew we wanted to get some songs down for a couple reasons. Primarily we wanted to have something more indicative of our sound now that guitarist Jimmy Rolle is in the lineup, which would allow us to officially retire the Gothic era of the Lazerwolfs.
When we recorded the Gothic disc back in December of 2000, the Lazerwolfs were really just a studio project that became a band. While we were excited at the time at the quality of the recording, and are still proud of what we accomplished, that disc comes up short in really showing what the band is all about. It was essentially a compilation of material spanning the music careers of Chris and Bubba, made up of songs they had originally done in the 80's, 90's, and a couple brand new ones.
Ultimately this project provides the stepping stone that will eventually lead to the first Lazerwolfs full length. Recording these songs showed us what we really sound like as a band, and it was very exciting to us. In fact, several of the songs on this demo will find their way to the first "official" Lazerwolfs release. When all is said and done, this demo will definitely become the recording session that set the foundation for what the Lazerwolfs will ultimately become.
Songs:
Big Rig
Bonfire (originally appeared on Gothic)
FOTC (featuring Jimmy "The Flavour" Rolle on lead vocals)
Ride (originally appeared on Gothic)
Jack o' the Green
ORT
Bonus Track: During these sessions we also recorded one song that we chose not to put on the EP; we recorded it just for the fun of it. It is a cover of the Fu Manchu song, "Hell On Wheels."
