Free Albums Galore Review 02/05/2007

Here's a review from Marvin @ Free Albums Galore. He basically does a music blog where he hooks people up with free music downloads - very cool. Make sure and check out his site! Here's the review:

================================

Maybe I’m old fashioned but it is always great to hear artists that can rock your ears off with the bare essential. I’m talking electric guitar, bass, and drums. No electronica, no fancy remixers, no expensive studio gear, just the three old stand-by instruments of good old rock and roll.

Lazerwolfs is that kind of band. Loud, brash, and very entertaining. There’s a good deal of 70s rock in their sound. Their first album Get Mad starts off deliciously with “Big Rig” sounding like a cross between Black Sabbath and ZZ Top by way of Montana which is Lazerwolfs’ stomping grounds. The intensity continues with burners like “Bonfire”, “Elementals”, and and a ten minute guitar and feedback fest called “ORT”. Some of the guitar riffs may sound like well traveled territory but when a band is this hot, who cares.

The new album Navaja Automatica is more of the same which is a good thing. “Hitman” has a nice Bachman Turner Overdrive riff going with lyrics more reminiscent of Judas Priest. The manic “Prowl” is my favorite cut while”Stone” is an extended psychedelic jam. The overall feel of the album is slightly more punkish than the first but still full of good old hard rock menace.

Both albums are available in 192kbps MP3. You can also find some live tracks and an interesting cover of Rush’s “Tom Sawyer”. If you enjoy the music, support the artists by buying the CDs.
